Host and Microbial Genetics

In microorganisms, several kinds of recombination are known to take place. The most common form of them is general recombination, which involves the reciprocal exchange of DNA between a pair of DNA sequences. It takes place everywhere in the microbial chromosome and is represented by the exchanges taking place in bacterial transformation, bacterial recombination, and its transduction.
